The Chaos Ruby Part 1: Other Zone Encounter

“Whoa!” cried Wilson the Dog as he dodged another jolt of electricity that fired towards him.

Wilson the Dog and his girlfriend Mandy Mouse had been sent by Queen Sally Acorn to investigate some dark goings-on in the Great Forest and now they were under attack by the extra-terrestrial demon known as Marik the Martian. Marik was a sworn enemy of the Royal Fighters, the group Wilson and Mandy work for, and he was determined to kill the two. Marik came from Mars (obviously) and he detested peace of any kind. He’d come to Mobius hoping to catch Cosmo the Seedrian and had quickly become an enemy of Sonic the Hedgehog what with his malicious lifestyle and hatred of peace. Right now, he’d been lurking around the Great Forest and hoping to attract attention. And the attention he’d gotten right now was the attention of two budding Royal Fighters. Marik was going to get rid of them and then get rid of the next lot that hunt him down and the next until they’re all wiped out and he can commence with his plans to ravage Mobius without any problems. Wilson and Mandy were running for their lives right now but Marik was hot on their tails. He kept firing jolts of electricity from his metal claws, hoping to hit them. But he kept missing and in order to distract him, Wilson threw his spinning blade weapon at him. The spinning blade weapon was a double-bladed pole that Wilson wielded and when he threw it, it spun like a boomerang and sliced the target to ribbons. Marik saw the blade coming and he bent over backwards to dodge the weapon. That distraction was enough for Wilson and Mandy to dive for cover. The weapon boomeranged back to Wilson and he caught it. He sheathed it and the two ran around behind a tree surrounded by thick bushes. Marik growled furiously and looked around for his victims. His metal claws crackled with electricity.

“Don’t hide from me you yellow-livered cowards!” roared Marik “Come out and face me like the courageous heroes you are! Or are you suddenly scared of me now?”

He looked around for Wilson and Mandy. The two Mobians held their breath and listened out for Marik. Their hearts pounded like drums against their ribcages.

“That Marik is persistent; I’ll give him that.” muttered Wilson “As well as frightening.”

“Marik maybe frightening cute stuff but we’ve gotta take care of him.” whispered Mandy, slipping on her trademark weapons, a pair of brass knuckle attachments “The queen’s counting on us and we can’t let her down. Same with blue dude Sonic. We’ve got to apprehend that monster before he causes anymore damage.”

“As if killing the king and queen wasn’t enough damage as it was.” murmured Wilson, taking a cautious look around the tree to see where Marik was.

Marik was a few feet away from them and he had his back turned. This could be a good opportunity for them to ambush Marik from behind and arrest him. Mandy, being the brave little tomboy she is, was willing to take that chance. She crept slowly out from behind the tree and made sure she didn’t ruffle the bushes.

“I’ll sneak up behind the little creep and knock him out with a punch.” hissed Mandy “When I knock him down, you pounce on him and use your weapon to make him stand down.”

“Got it. Be careful sweetheart.” whispered Wilson.

“I will be, don’t fret.” said Mandy as she stepped over the bush surrounding the tree without making a sound.

Marik was peering through some rose bushes and looking for Wilson and Mandy. He was inevitably furious with his lack of find so far and he ripped some roses out of the bush with his metal hand, the prickles of the rose ineffective against the metal hand, in rage.

“Come out and face me you cowards!” growled Marik again “What will it take to make you come out? Shall I set fire to the forest and smoke you two out? Because it looks like I’m going to have to do that!”

As Marik raged to himself, Mandy kept creeping up to Marik without making a sound. Mandy clenched her fist and aimed for the back of Marik’s head. Luckily for her, Marik did not seem to notice she was standing behind him. Her sneaking had paid off. Mandy drew her arm back and then punched Marik in the back of the head, her knuckle attachments making a loud clang as they hit Marik’s helmet. Marik fell forward into the rose bush and Mandy began to punch him some more. She was hoping to knock Marik out by punching him hard enough. But punching someone in the head while they have a helmet on isn’t usually the best idea. All Mandy was doing was making clang noises against Marik’s helmet as she punched him. Marik turned around and furiously backhanded Mandy across the face and knocked her over. Mandy tried to stand back up but Marik zapped her with a powerful jolt of electricity and forced her to stay down. Marik advanced on Mandy and prepared to plunge his claws into her chest. But Mandy kicked Marik in the gut and made him double-over. The purple-furred mouse then leaped back onto her feet and uppercut Marik in the face. Marik staggered backwards and clutched his face in pain. Mandy tried to punch him again but Marik grabbed her fist and pulled on her arm, pulling her down onto her knees. Marik grabbed her neck with his metal hand and he was about to electrocute Mandy until Wilson jumped out and pointed his spinning blade weapon at him. He prodded Marik in the chest with the tip of the blade.

“Don’t try it or you’ll be in for it!” snarled Wilson.

“Oh fie Wilson, you’d never finish me off, you don’t have the backbone for it!” sneered Marik, letting go of Mandy’s neck and raising his hands.

“I wouldn’t be too sure on that.” warned Mandy “Wilson can become a very different dog when he’s mad. Now then Marik, by the code of the R.F.S. we’re arresting you for crimes against the Mobians and you will answer to Queen Sally Acorn for those crimes.”

“Oh really?” crowed Marik “Well you’ll have to subdue me first. And that’s the big mistake you’ve made you pair of twits…”

He then pointed a metal claw as sharp as a flint at Wilson and he pointed his thumb at Mandy. He zapped the two with an electrical jolt each from his finger and his thumb. Wilson and Mandy were thrown backwards and they both crashed into a tree each. Marik ran over to Wilson and he tried to claw the dog across the face but Wilson rolled out of the way and left Marik to claw the tree instead, tearing off bits of bark. Wilson then slashed Marik across the arm with his weapon, causing Marik to scream in pain and clutch his arm. While he was distracted by the pain of his arm, Wilson and Mandy scampered off as fast as they could.

“Well that plan didn’t work!” exclaimed Wilson “We’ve gotta try again!”

“I should punch the creep in the face rather than the back of his helmet.” said Mandy “I bet that would take him down. If a else fails, we’ll have to call for back up…”

Then suddenly, Wilson and Mandy ran into something that couldn’t be seen and they vanished into thin air. Marik, who was catching up to them, watched them vanish and he skidded to a halt. Wilson and Mandy had just run through a random wormhole. This wormhole had appeared for reasons unknown and now the two Mobians were being transported to goodness knows where. Marik was baffled by all of this for he had no idea it was a wormhole and he looked around.

“Huh? Where did they go?” wondered Marik “Did they just…vanish? Like…wizards? But that’s impossible! Wizards don’t exist!”

Marik had no idea what had happened but he was determined to find out. He wasn’t letting his prey go so easily so he, the hunter that he is, scoured the area and looked for Wilson and Mandy…

“Come on Crystal! You’re almost at a hundred!” chanted a brown raccoon with a green head band around his head.

“Your strength really is paying off here isn’t it?” said a green parrot who wore a pair of glasses and a red bow tie.

“Grrr…ninety-five…ninety-six…” puffed a white polar bear with red hair and red eyes who was doing some weight lifting.  

These three Mobians were a peculiar trio. They formed Team Radical, the heroes of the Sol Zone which is also the home of Blaze the Cat and Marine the Raccoon.

Their leader was a brown raccoon named Radical “Rad” the Racoon. He wore a green headband around his head, a green vest, yellow gloves with black bands around the wrists and green boots with a white stripe on them.

The parrot was named Gadget and as well as having green feathers and wearing glasses and a bow tie, he wore yellow and white shows and white gloves. He was the brains of the team.

The polar-bear who was doing some weight-lifting was named Crystal. She wore an icy blue crop top, blue joggers and red shoes with spikes on the soles. She wore red fingerless gloves too. Crystal was the power-house of the team. Her love for sport and working out really helped in her becoming the muscle of Team Radical. She was also Rad’s girlfriend.

These three often fought against Captain Whiskers and his crew and stopped them from stealing treasures and ruining people’s lives. Right now, they were having an easy day and Rad and Gadget were watching Crystal work out. It amazed the two how much weight-lifting she was doing. She was almost at a hundred. But unfortunately, her incredible feat would be interrupted for the wormhole that swallowed up Wilson and Mandy decided to open up in the gym that Crystal was working out in and the dog and mouse catapulted out of the wormhole. They both crashed into Crystal and knocked her down onto the floor. The weight she was lifting flew into the air and came down with a heavy crash on the floor. The impact seemed to have left cracks on the floor. Rad and Gadget gasped in surprise and they helped the startled polar-bear climb back onto her feet.

“Crystal! You alright babe?” asked Rad concernedly.

“Never been better.” muttered Crystal, dusting herself off “I was about to set a record here too and then I get knocked down by summet.”

“That definitely was most alarming and astonishing wasn’t it?” piped Gadget “Two random Mobians just show up from nowhere and then knock Crystal off her feet. Where did they come from?”

Team Radical stared at Wilson and Mandy as the two picked themselves up. They rubbed their heads tenderly and groaned.

“Urgh…what happened there?” grunted Wilson.

“We’re running from Marik and then suddenly everything goes black and now we end up flying out into someone.” murmured Mandy “What on Mobius happened there…”

Her voice trailed off as she noticed Team Radical looking at her and Wilson. They looked amazed and bewildered to say the most. Mandy stared back at them. What an interesting trio of Mobians these three were. Maybe they could become new members of the Royal Fighters Service.

“Oh…um…hello.” said Mandy politely “So sorry about all that, honest we are…”

“No, no, no. It’s OK.” said Rad “We get what’s going on with you two. You just stumbled through a wormhole and it brought you two here.”

Mandy looked puzzled.

“Come again kid?” she asked.

“You appeared from nowhere because you two had obviously run through a wormhole, a random rip in the timeline that can send anyone anywhere at random when encountered. Nobody knows for sure why they appear so randomly and what effects they might have but one thing everybody knows is that wormholes really are a curious feature.” explained Gadget.
 
Wilson and Mandy looked at each other, wondering what the heck Gadget just said. They looked back at Gadget.

“O…K…” said Mandy uncertainly “And you know all of this how exactly?”

“He’s a little brain box he is.” said Crystal “He often spends his time studying and absorbing information with that complex little brain of his.”

“Too true.” said Gadget agreeably “So, would you two mystery Mobians care to identify yourselves to us?”

“Sure, no problem.” said Mandy “My name’s Mandy Mouse and this is my cute little boyfriend Wilson the Dog.”

“How’s it going you three?” asked Wilson with a polite wave.

“Nice to meet you two.” said Rad brightly “My name’s Radical the Raccoon but you can call me Rad.”

“I’m Crystal the Polar Bear and I’m Rad’s girlfriend.” introduced Crystal, earning a little blush from Rad.

“And I’m Gadget.” introduced Gadget.

“Together we form Team Radical.” explained Rad “I’m the leader, Gadget’s the brains and Crystal’s the muscle. Together we fight the nefarious Captain Whiskers and his crackpot team of pirates. They’re robotical pirates who go around looking for treasures and trying to steal the Sol Emeralds but we always stop them along with the guardian of the Sol Emeralds Blaze the Cat.”

“Wow…that sounds impressive for a trio of kids.” said Mandy in amazement “Mind you, the R.F.S. has some kids too like Tails, Amy and Cream so who am I to say?”

“R.F.S.?” asked Rad “What’s that?”

“It stands for “Royal Fighters Service” and me and Mandy are a part of it.” explained Wilson “We’re currently at war with Dr. Eggman and we alongside Sonic the Hedgehog and various other heroic Mobians fight together against Eggman. But that’s back at home. Speaking of home, where are we now?”

“This is the Sol Zone.” explained Gadget “So called because it is home of the Sol Emeralds, the prized gems of the zone and the very things that keep it alive. That’s why we have to protect the Sol Emeralds, if we lose them then our world will be no more.”

“Huh, there are many ways of ending the world but that’s probably the worst way.” said Mandy “Losing some gems and the world blows up? I do hope that you never lose those Sol Emeralds.”

“Don’t sweat it Mandy, with us, my sister Marine and Blaze guarding them, they’ll never be lost.” bragged Rad.

“You have a sister?” asked Wilson “Where is she now?”

“On another adventure with Blaze.” said Rad “I don’t really like letting Marine out of my sights, I’m very protective of her, but I can trust Blaze to look after her. She’s kept her safe on many occasions before so there’s no worries.”

“That’s wonderful.” said Mandy “So…we’re in another zone entirely? I didn’t think the multi-verse theory was real, I always thought it was silly make-believe. Proves I should never assume. As for that so-called “wormhole” we possibly stumbled through, I bet that’s what brought us here. One minute we’re on our Mobius and now we’re on a different one.”

“If the wormhole brought us here then maybe we could use it to get back?” suggested Wilson.

“I highly doubt that my friends.” said Gadget, shaking his head grimly “Wormholes have the strange intendancy to disappear after one stumbles through it. Wormholes are indeed a curious phenomenon I feel. We’ll be lucky though if one conveniently appears again so that you may get home. Wormholes are hard to come by.”

Wilson and Mandy looked at each other despairingly. Wormholes are hard to come by? They’d be lucky if one appears again? Did that mean they were stuck here in this alternate zone forever? How horrible that would be for all their friends back home! They’d have no idea where they are or where they’ve gone. They might even think they’re dead!

“So…we’re stuck here?!” shrieked Wilson “Possibly…forever?!”

“Oh no! This is terrible!” cried Mandy “What’s Sonic and everybody else gonna think? They’ll think we’re dead or something! We have to get back home before they start putting up “Missing Posters” for us!”

“We’d love to help you two.” said Crystal kindly “But I’m afraid we don’t have any methods of zone travel right now.”

“The only method we have are the Sol Emeralds but Blaze likely has them on her and I have no idea where she could possibly be right now.” said Rad sadly “We’ll help you somehow. While we think on it, care to come home with us? Maybe we could sit down and get to know each other some more as it’s likely you’ll be here for a while.”

“Don’t see why not.” said Mandy “If we’re gonna be here for a while, we may as well learn a few things about this zone. What do you say cute stuff?”

“I…um…think that’s a good…um…idea too Mandy.” said Wilson, trying to keep himself from blushing.

“Awesomely radical!” cried Rad happily “Come on you two, we’ll stop at my place. And after that I’ll show you around. You’ll love this zone you will.”

With that said, the Mobians all left the gym and went off to Rad’s house. Wilson and Mandy maybe concerned for their friends back home but they were looking forward to learning a bit more about this zone and what it had on offer…

Back on Mobius Prime, Marik was still looking around and wondering what had happened to Wilson and Mandy and where they vanished too. The wormhole they’d gone through had vanished so he didn’t end up going through it after them. The chances are, Marik would never find them again and he’d be stuck looking for them forever. Marik eventually gave up on his search as it was clear he couldn’t find the dog and mouse and he just scratched his head in thought.

“Where did those two mongrels get to?” wondered Marik “They seemed to just vanish into thin air? Did they really do that? Not likely as I know for certain they’re not magical in anyway. Did they turn invisible and are waiting to attack me? Or…” his mind suddenly went click and he realized what had happened “…perhaps they went through some kind of portal and have warped somewhere else. But I walked through the section they disappeared in and I haven’t gone through a portal. Perhaps it was a wormhole, those bothersome little things that appear from nowhere and cause people to get lost. I should know because my dad’s lost a few good soldiers thanks to wormholes. If that is the case then they’re lost forever. Ha, ha, ha! Good, that’s two less Mobians I have to worry about!”

He grinned evilly to himself.

“I’ll just pretend I killed the two twerps and make Sonic mad and get him to hunt me.” Marik mused to himself “And then I shall finish him off along with his other pathetic friends. Mobius will fall to me and it shall become a land of ruination…”

As he was wondering off, his foot went through something invisible and it disappeared. Marik quickly noticed this and he yanked his foot back in alarm. Marik stuck his arm out and it disappeared as it went through the thing in front of him. Marik had some kind of idea on what was going on.

“Ooooh…” he said to himself “How serendipitous, I’ve found another wormhole! Wormholes have a nasty habit of creating an extra one when they randomly appear. Two wormholes at once is the most that we get though and then we don’t get them again. Well, let’s see where this takes me then…”
   
Marik leaped through the wormhole and vanished from sight. He had no idea where he was going to be taken but he hoped it would take him to where Wilson and Mandy were now…

Meanwhile, Team Radical had led Wilson and Mandy to Rad’s home in Southern Island. (sorry, I can’t give a description of the house because I can’t find one and Erin Delgado hasn’t listed one). Rad let himself in and the Mobians all stepped inside the house. It looked pretty nice inside and the room they were in now was the living room. There was a red sofa bed, a coffee table and a television. Wilson and Mandy were impressed with how cosy the home looked and they thought the place was pretty fitting for a raccoon like Rad to live in.

“Now this is nice.” said Mandy “You’ve got a good place here Rad.”

“Thanks.” said Rad brightly “It’s all me and Marine have at the moment. Please sit down and make yourselves at home.”

“Don’t mind if I do.” said Wilson, sitting down on the comfy sofa and putting his hands behind his head in a relaxed manner.

“Oh Wilson, you can make yourself at home anywhere.” chuckled Mandy, sitting down beside him.

“That’s an overstatement there but yeah, I pretty much could make myself at home anywhere.” laughed Wilson.

“Do you mind us sitting here?” asked Mandy politely “I mean, this is your home and it’s not right for us to take up your sofa while you have nowhere else to sit…”

“Don’t sweat it buddies, when I said make yourselves at home, I meant it.” Rad reassured the two “I’m OK sitting on the floor, I don’t sit on that sofa much anyway.”

“Ah right, OK then.” said Mandy “So then…how did you three come to meet each other then? I’m quite interested in learning how you three became a team.”

“Well, that’s a story on all three sides.” said Rad as he sat down on the carpet at the foot of the sofa “Crystal, do you wanna start?”

“Sure.” said Crystal, sitting down next to her boyfriend and looking at Wilson and Mandy “I come from the icy cold country of Blizzard Peaks.”

“Figures since you’re a polar-bear.” said Wilson.  

“Yeah, when I was young, my dad left me and mom for reasons I can’t quite recall so I was left in her care. I’d been a loner for a while but things changed when I met my darling Rad.” continued Crystal, the remark earning a blush from Rad “We had a bit of a rough start though. There was a bit of banter between us and then physical violence and then…we suddenly ended up liking each other*. I guess we impressed each other with how skilled we were at fighting.”

“It’s one of those weird things that happens to some people after all.” said Wilson with a chuckle “Rah we hate each other! No wait, we love each other! We’re sorry we fought!” he jeered while doing a pretty damn good impression of the Gollum from The Lord of the Rings series.  

That set everybody off. The room was filled with shrieks of laughter from all five Mobians.

“You’re funny you are Wilson!” chuckled Gadget “Most definitely a humorous one!”

“Thanks.” said Wilson “So, is that it Crystal?”

“Pretty much.” said Crystal “Me and Rad made up for our rough start and then we ended up falling in love with each other.”

She wrapped her arms around Rad and rubbed faces with him. Rad returned the hug and rubbed faces with her too.

“Aw, you two are so adorable together!” exclaimed Mandy happily, her hands over her heart in a touched manner “You two are a lovely couple.”

“We could say the same to you two.” said Rad as he and Crystal broke up the hug “So, you wanna hear mine next?”

“Sure kid, go ahead.” said Mandy eagerly.

“As you know, I’m the leader of Team Radical.” explained Rad “Before that though, I was a bit of an adventurer with my sister Marine. I liked to help people whenever they were in trouble. No matter the danger, I always leaped in to help those in need.”

“I think Sonic the Hedgehog will like you very much Rad.” said Wilson with a smile on his face.

“Thanks.” said Rad “Anyway, not so long ago, I met my gorgeous girlfriend Crystal** here and as she explained, we started off roughly but then we ended up liking each other. We still think it’s strange. And not long after I met Crystal, I met Gadget. We all made friends and we formed Team Radical. Now we go around stopping Captain Whiskers and his crew from pillaging Southern Island and stealing precious gems like the Sol Emeralds. We’ll get to him in a minute.”

“Now I believe it is time for my story.” said Gadget “I’m the best friend of Rad but before I met him, I lived with my parents Mecha and Gizmo in a technically advanced area known as Machine Labyrinth. The science there is astounding and as you can guess by the name, it’s full of mazes that are most onerous to complete.”

“I bet it is.” said Mandy “Sounds pretty cool though, I’d love to see that place.”

“Well I’d be most honoured to show you Machine Labyrinth Mandy.” said Gadget, beaming happily “So, what’s the story of you two then? How did you come together?”

“Please tell us, we’re anxious to know.” said Rad.

“Well like yours, this is a story on each side.” said Mandy “But ours aren’t as happy as yours. I’ll go first. I didn’t have a very happy childhood. Most of it stems from the fact I was educated at a school of racist bigots. I was tormented relentlessly by bullies simply because of my fur colour.”

“That’s awful! Why would they do that?” exclaimed Crystal “There’s nothing wrong with your fur colour at all! I think purple suits you.”

“Thank you.” said Mandy, flattered to hear somebody compliment her fur colour instead of mocking it for once “That was the thing, purple was considered a freakish fur colour because not many people have purple fur. The bullying got quite extreme but I let my teachers know about it and the bullies were expelled. But that didn’t stop them. They came back after a while and then as revenge, they attempted to kill me.”

“Holy Coconuts!” exclaimed Rad “They seriously did that just because you told on them for mocking your fur colour?! That’s disgusting!”

“I know, it was truly a horrible experience.” muttered Mandy “I was saved by the timely arrival of my head teacher though and after that, I never saw them again. But then new term came and new bullies came in and the bullying persisted. I almost considered shaving my fur off due to the depression I was in at the time. And then…I met Wilson and my world changed forever. Your turn cutie.”

“Thanks.” said Wilson “I had a similar childhood but I was mocked for two reasons instead of one. One was my fur colour is not many people have orange fur in Mobotropolis and two, I used to be a coward. Everything scared me and I was made a laughing stock because of how wussy I was. I felt like a clown at times and I seriously didn’t like being a coward. My dad tutored me well though and my courage increased over time. But I was still mocked for my fur colour and that brought down my self-esteem a little. Then I met Mandy. She was sitting alone on a bench in the playground and I decided to see what was up with her. She told me her problems, I told her mine and we decided to put and end to this nonsense. We started a campaign against racism and the campaign was a success. Bullying stopped and every fur colour, even pink, was accepted from now on with students there.”

“And since then, we began to fall in love with each other.” said Mandy, taking Wilson’s hands and staring lovingly into his eyes “He saved my life, I saved his so how could we not love each other?”

“And that’s how we came to be.” said Wilson, staring into Mandy’s eyes lovingly “A timely coincidence and maybe fate brought us together and now we fight for the freedom of Mobius together. I hope for us to settle down and become a couple sometime in the future.”

“Awwww…” said Crystal “That’s the epitome of cute right there! I’m so glad you two brought happiness to each other’s lives.”

“That means more to us then you know kid.” said Mandy “We’re happy to share our stories with you.”

“And we were most delighted to share our stories with you.” said Gadget “So then, would you care to see some of the Sol Zone’s magnanimous sights then?”

“Sure, I’m up for a tour.” said Mandy “Especially as we might be here a while. Where to first?”

“I thought we’d see my favourite beach first.” suggested Rad “Me and Marine often go there on sunny days to play in the sunshine.”

“If me and Wilson were dressed appropriately, we’d start playing on the beach now.” muttered Mandy “Oh well, never hurts to see the beach. Let’s go then.”

With that said, the Mobians left Rad’s house and Rad led Wilson and Mandy off to the beach he and Marine like to play on. Unfortunately, they were going to get a bit more then they bargained for...

…for Marik the Martian’s wormhole had taken him straight to the very beach they were going too! Marik shot out of the wormhole and he landed feet first on the sand, sending some of it flying everywhere. Marik shook some sand out of his shoes and he looked around, noticing it suddenly felt hotter then it did back in the prime zone and that he was now on a beach with golden yellow sand and a sparkling blue sea that glistened in the sunshine. The beach was empty though so nobody could see him around. Marik scowled to himself.

“So the wormhole brings me to a beach?” he fumed “I never liked beaches, too hot and boring for me. Am I on another part of Mobius or am I in a new zone altogether? I’m not entirely sure here. Nothing really looks different…”

He began to wonder across the sand as he took in his surroundings. The Sol Zone didn’t really have any visible differences to Mobius Prime save for different locations and such but Marik hadn’t been all around Mobius Prime yet so for all he knew, he could still be on Mobius Prime, just in a different location. The only thing Marik hoped right now was that he was in the same place that Wilson and Mandy had been taken to so he could slaughter them. But that was just too much to hope for so Marik didn’t hope too much. Then suddenly, Marik’s foot hit a noticeable lump in the sand and he tripped over and fell onto his face. He ended up getting a face full of sand and he grumbled to himself. He spat some sand out and wiped his face clean.

“Plugh…what was that I wonder?” he asked himself, picking himself up and looking at the lump in the sand.

Some sand had fallen off the lump after he’d tripped over it and revealed what was underneath. Marik grabbed the thing and he hoisted it clean out of the sand. To his utter surprise, it was a treasure chest! The chest belonged to Captain Whiskers and his crew. Team Radical had nicked it during their last encounter with the robotic pirate and they’d buried it in the beach. The idea was they thought Captain Whiskers wouldn’t try right here as it was to obvious and that they wouldn’t be stupid enough to bury something in such an obvious place. It had worked too but Marik had just conveniently happened to come across it. Marik stared at the chest and he knelt down at it.

“Well punch me in the face, it’s a treasure chest!” blurted Marik “I always did like treasures, especially when they contained magical, mystical relics. I wonder what goodies are in here then?”

Using his metal claws, he shredded the padlock to pieces and he opened the chest. In the chest was nothing more than a giant, red ruby that glowed brighter then the stars themselves. Marik looked disappointed, he was expecting a bit more then that but he decided to take the ruby for it might be of good use to him. He picked up the ruby and looked at it.

“I wonder what this is and if it has any kind of power?” he mused to himself “If not, I’ll keep it anyway. It’ll look good in my bedroom back on Mars.”

He stuffed the ruby in his jacket pocket and he wondered off, leaving the empty treasure chest behind. Little did Marik know, this ruby was going to be more useful and valuable to him then he was giving it credit for…

*Just a heads up, Erin Delgado gave me pretty vague information on Crystal’s back story so I just pretty much made up a few bits. Sorry if this is inaccurate, Erin didn’t give me enough details.
