(I, in my Media Man outfit, stand up to a stage of spectators and I begin my speech.)

Good evening ladies and gentlemen. I'm Mixedfan8643 and I'm here to make an important announcement so please listen. Ah-a-ahem...

(announcement)

I've had it folks. Had it with this pointless war between fans and haters of the Sonic Comics. All it's doing is making us look like immature little brats who can't accept opinions and we're being ridiculous by spending our lives fighting it with each other and debating each other's statements instead of doing better things like enjoying what we like and socializing to one another. It's clear as crystal and it's set in concrete stone that no one will win this. We cannot accept each other's thoughts because we're stubborn, biased and opinionated. Not all people are like that and that I know as well as you all do. There are some people who can accept the views of others and that's cool. I just wish it was like that with everybody and not just certain people. Why can't we all accept each other's opinions? It's not hard is it? It's as simple as saying "I disagree with you but I don't mind your opinions. Fair enough. I have my opinions, you have yours and there's nothing wrong with that." I would LOVE it if Sonic Comic fans and haters everywhere would just learn to get along instead of debating with each other. True I'm not a saint myself but after all this time I've come to realize it's all pointless. I regret everything I've done in these debates. My "hater's claims and analysis" journal, I still stand by but I apologize if it sounded biased and "fanboy" like. I didn't intend for it to come out like this. I wanted to make an analysis that was both fair and true. But it's clear that no matter what we say, the hater's will continue to disagree. So why bother trying to make a point if they just won't budge? And this goes to the haters too. Why bother pontificating to use if we won't budge? This is a war nobody can win and frankly, we need to put an end to this nonsense. I've decided from now on, I will no longer take part in debates about the Sonic Comics. I will remain quiet about them from now on unless someone wishes to start a discussion about them with me. I shall focus on the brighter things in life and I'll keep my voice down. I'm going to stand down from this war and call a truce here. Now DA users, I ask of you just one thing. Can you all do the same? Can you stop these flame wars and arguments? Can you all learn to respect each other and be more accepting of each other? If we don't then we will tarnish the face of DeviantArt for ever. I realize the mistakes I've made and I apologize for them. So please fans and haters of the Sonic Comics, can we put and end to this conflict? Can we make peace and live with each other's views? I'm making the first step by standing down now. Who wants to the better person and stand down with me? That's all I've gotta say for now. Thanks for reading. This is Mixedfan8643 signing and hoping that we can improve DeviantArt by stopping these arguments and learning to live with each other.

(Stands down from the stage and walks away while the audience speculates on what to do)

At the end of the day, the people who still like the comic should just press on with enjoying it, and continue to read it as the issues come. As for the haters, it's OK for them to not like the comics. But they don't have to be douchebags about their negative opinions.

Agreed to the letter. That's just what I'm going to do now. Just enjoy the comic for what it is and ignore the haters completely. This battle wasn't worth it, especially as the haters are too stubborn to admit their claims are wrong and asinine...

I know it is. I've seen it. Bwrosas is some guy on youtube who makes a lot of videos talking about random stuff and he claims to be "somewhere in the middle with the Sonic Comics" yet does a lot of videos reading off of negative opinions of the comic (and all stupid ones no less). Still, he seemed to like this journal and I'm glad he agreed with me.

Very well put together, pal! I admit that all this arguing is totally unnecessary and I don't like doing myself, but I'm just passionate and I too have had it with these people. Can't we reach a compromise on all this? Some fans, like you and me, love the comic and some fans, like Vorahk295 and ArchieSonicLulz, hate it. Can't we all be civil to each other?

This audience member applauds you, my good sir. As others have said in this comments section, I'm not sure how effective it will be. Some people will try to make everything we say into an argument, no matter what we do. But I guess we can change the way we respond. And, hopefully, those looking for a fight will learn to look elsewhere.

Now I'm rambling, so I'll shut up now.

Awesome journal post, by the way. :)

You're welcome, friend. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotations: "We can't change the way the world treats us, but we can change the way we react to that treatment."

Anyway, keep up the good work!

You deserve a medal for this. and yer Bloody right! WHy can't the immature sonic-haters learn? When I look at other popular things that got lots of fans I don't see the problem there. One example is the Pirates of the caribbean franchise. I saw two people discussing about Blackbeard and davy Jones, and they both had different opinions, but they were not acting immature, and they accepted that they had different opinions. Why can't all Sonic fans be like that?

Amen. I've been wondering that from the beginning. I mean, it seems like a fan can't even discuss his opinions of the comics without getting pounced on. I honestly sort of feel bad for the really vocal haters. They just seem so angry all the time. I realize that's partially an internet thing, but still. I really hope there's something they can enjoy outside of a cartoon from the early '90s.

True, so true. And one thing that I can't understand why people hate the comic is this, the lovers of the cartoon hate the continuity in the games, and vice versa. and The comic got elements from both the games and the comics. Mixing both continuities into 1 Super cool continuity, and the Still hate it? WHY?

I know. I've been thinking for a while that they just don't want to be satisfied, but that could just be me.

I remember when I first picked up the comics (Sonic the Hedgehog Issue #108..."The Return of the Original Dr. Robotnik"). I saw that they had stuff from the cartoons, as well as the games in them (and this was before Penders really lost it). I thought it was the coolest thing ever. It's an awesome continuity, like you said. I mean, Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 involving Sally? How cool is that?

Sorry, I geek out easily over this comic. :)

I just have one thing to say and its this "you can please some of the people some of the time but you can't please all of the people all of time" It's just impossible to please everyone, even though you please most of the people there will always be someone that is not pleased....and that's all I gotta say about that....

Hahah...I shouldn't be laughing because I darn near did the same thing. They really need to give Cap that line in the next one. Plus, that scene where the Avengers are scattered and Captain America picks up Thor's hammer and shouts "Avengers Assemble!" as lightning flashes overhead would be amazing. :)

Knowing them, SatAM's the only cartoon they grew up with. Nah that's silly, I bet they have other things they like too like Vohrak295, one Sonic comic hater, is a Bionicle fan (like I used to be) and FunnelFaky is a weather fan. Why don't they focus on those things instead? I'm sure Bionicle and the weather's more fun to talk about then a comic they don't like!

You'd think. But yeah, here's hoping the Sonic fanbase gets better, healthier, and more mature in the future. It's a lot to hope for (given pretty much twenty years of bad blood over the video games alone), but the fastest thing on two feet is definitely worth the effort. :)

Because that requires being mature, something the Sonic fandom can't do unfortunately. Oh well, I'm sure it'll improve in a good few years or so. I feel good about myself for doing the right thing and quitting this debate. I'll keep enjoying the comics as much as I like and not debating will just make me feel better about them.

Thanks a tonne buddy. Yeah, I hope they do listen. I made this because of this happening:

ArchieSonicLulz, one of the biggest douchebags on this site, decided to leave a comment on my journal and it wasn't a good one, it was him being his usual big-headed self. I responded back reasonably to him and he still labelled me as a "fanboy" so I told him to sod off and to not comment on me again. The cheeky little bastard goes away and then does a terrible job at debating my journal (he doesn't even debunk the whole thing, just bits and pieces and all he's done is give me MORE claims to debunk) in the Anti-Archie Sonic Club. I was angry at this so I decided to prove to them that I am not a "Flynnboy" or an "Ian Flynn fanboy" by standing down from this battle and becoming more acceptive of them. I hope they'll change their tune eventually and become more acceptive of us. But that would be a LOGICAL choice to make and Ian Flynn haters don't have any logic so that's not gonna happen.

It has sadly been happening since the beginning of Sonic.

I have had discussion with him before, they were always respectful though I do think that he tends to over react and look for evils were there are none buddy still is a nice enough guy to me. But I am with you I try and stay out of arguments like that, it helps no one and is annoying.

Well, I don't blame you, I've pretty much given up on that, as well.
Especially now that some "haters" are trying to spread nasty rumors about me. Saying I'm a "Archie Sonic fanboy who constantly starts rants/debates with people," or say I'm a "troll," and such... (One guy even tried to claim I insulted his religion, which I never did. Ironically he's supposedly the same religion as I am.) Another guy even said I said all "haters" of the Sonic comic are "horrible people," which is another lie. I said some were immature, that's all I said. I don't "hate" anyone, especially anyone who hates the comic.
(Ironically, I used to dislike the Sonic comic to, back in the later Penders/Bollers era. So it's ironic that I get labled a "Blind Archie Sonic fan" by haters.)

Lying about people, (especially writer Ian Flynn, and I'm sorry, but spreading rumors about him IS lying) or attacking fans who like the comic doesn't help their side of the argument, at all. If "haters" want their opinions respected, they should respect the fans of the comic to.
No amount of rants, blogs, hate/anti clubs, or petitions are going to change the course of the comic to whatever they want it to be.
Sega/Archie and writer Ian Flynn (or editor Paul Kaminski) aren't going to listen to their critiques if they act like animals, or go, "IAN IS SONAMY! IAN IS SONSAL! IAN H8s MY FAV' CHARACTER/PAIRING! IAN IS THE DEVIL!" constantly.

I understand there are immature "Archie Sonic fans" to, and I've even corrected them when they bash others, and such actually. I've evem stated some people who don't like the comics have their reasons. So I've even defended them, as well. (And ironically, current main writer for the Sonic comic Ian Flynn has defended his haters/critics, as well. So I find it ironic whenever I see "haters" who act like Ian has it "out for them.")
I hate to sound biased, but I see more immature "haters" of the Sonic comic then I do "lovers/fans" of the comic. (But that's my opinion.) But as I said, not all people who dislike the comic are "bad," I even used to be among them. (Only I didn't obsess on hating the comic, didn't bash it constantly, or join hate-clubs, and such. I wasn't a "fanbrat" about it.)

I hate to generalize, I swear the Sonic fanbase is the most negative, and mean-spirited fanbase I've ever seen online. (There are some cool/mature Sonic fans to though. Don't get me wrong. If it weren't for them, I'd of given up on being a Sonic fan long ago.)

I will still occasionally discuss the comic with others, or correct somebody if they're wrong about something about it, (or if they're downright lying about something like saying "Ian hates SatA.M." when he doesn't... I love Sonic SatA.M. but some are getting to obsessed with worshipping that old Sonic cartoon) but problem is, some people take being "corrected," as an insult, so sometimes it's just not worth it.

You can still voice your opinions about the comic, so I say don't give up on that, but as you said it's probably not worth debating with people who will hate the comic no matter how it's handled.
Some have their reasons, but some just love to hate it so much, they'll never be pleased with it.

Thanks for the comment Beau-Skunk. Anyhow, I will still express my like for the Sonic comics but I won't keep defending it as the haters just don't know when to admit they're wrong and all I'm doing is wasting space on this site. No matter what those haters say, I won't budge. They cannot convince me that the comics, particularly Ian's writing for them, are bad because they aren't. I'll be more accepting of them and I'll keep my voice down but I will not ever stop enjoying them no matter what they say. What they say is and always will be a tonne of garbage and their ideas on "how it could be better" don't need to be done because it's OK as it is. Mind you, having it be a couple years longer wouldn't be a bad idea at all...
